Today is the Day

So today is the day that we have all been working so hard for....the Art and Design degree show will be opening this evening at 6.30!!

My work is all up, any last minute checks of the portfolio will be made this afternoon and then all that is left to do is to get myself glam'd up and enjoy the evening :)

New Designers

I was told last week that I have been selected to exhibit at New Designers this year.  I had been waiting for this opportunity since my first year of Uni as was always hoping that I would be lucky enough to get to go so I am really excited and cannot wait to get there :) 

Surface Pattern Design is stand T57 and we will be showing in Part 1 which runs from 29th June - 2nd July.  All students will have work displayed as well as portfolios to hand to show anyone who is interested in seeing what we can all do

Degree Show

Thats it...my degree has now finished.  Three years of cutting, printing, sketching, developing and creating all comes down to this....the final degree show.

The show opens on Friday evening at 6pm and will run until Saturday 18th June. The invitation is open to everyone so whether you are interested in coming and having a look at the new talent of 2011 or just fancy trip out please come and see us all. Block Printing

Today I have been testing out block printing with wooden stamps and I've fallen in love, I really like the textured effects and the mixed lettering.  The text will sit by my illustrations and will be layered with stitch and other printing techniques and finally printed to create a range of cushions :)

Laser Cut Light - Photographed by Catherine Dineley

I had my light photographed yesterday but Catherine Dineley, the photographer who has done all of the professional photography on my blog.  Catherine has, again, done a really amazing job and I think she has made my light look really amazing :)

Final prep :)

This is definitely one of my favourite pieces of work, I really enjoyed the whole design process - from drawing and designing to having each sheet laser cut and then finally putting the light together myself.  I would really love to do more of this kind of work in the future :)

New Project :)

Ok so Iv started my final project at uni :( really scary stuff but Im really going to make the most of it and enjoy it as much as I can.  When I wrote the brief I set it out to be a really playful and exciting project and think this will be the best way to finish my time at Uni.

Some pics just of my board at uni at the mo, have started drawing this week so should have some things to show you all very soon.  My project is titled "What Makes Britain Great".  Im looking at things such as the Queen, tea, cockney rhyming slang etc.  My favourite idea at the moment is the 'Duke of Wellington' so keep your eyes peeled, I'l be adding pictures very soon. xx

Laser Cut Light Shade!!

I have just finished putting together my laser cut light shade, there are 5 different layers including, tracing paper, layout paper, recycled cartridge paper, standard cartridge paper and ice flown paper.

All I need to do now is get it into Uni in one piece :) xx
