Graduation 2011 :

I had the most amazing graduation day yesterday.  Trentham gardens was beautiful and the sun helped make the day just that little bit more perfect.  

British Inspired Cushions :)

Below are a few images of the cushions I took to New Designers.  

I created 8 different cushions all based around the current British trend.  I wanted to look at different things which 'Make Britain Great'.  I focused on cockney rhyming slang with phrases such as 'Dog and Bone" and 'Rosie Lee' but also looked at iconic figures such as The Duke of Wellington and the Royal family.

Here are all 8 cushions just after being stitched together :) 

I enjoyed the whole process of designing and making this collection.  I loved working with the wooden stamp blocks, the illustration as well as finally sewing up the cushions.  I am really pleased with the final outcomes and think the colours work really well together.

Back from New Designers!!

So Part 1 of New Designers is now over but I loved every single second of it (even putting the show up in 34degree heat!!) The whole show was amazing and it was great to meet so many fantastic people.  Below are a few pics from the show ...

Inspire Me Daisy Chain Lights

Exciting news.....the Daisy Chain Fairy Lights I created for Inspire Me Papers have been launched today on their website.  The lights feature as a full image on the front of the website and are available as a download kit :)

Today is the Day

So today is the day that we have all been working so hard for....the Art and Design degree show will be opening this evening at 6.30!!

My work is all up, any last minute checks of the portfolio will be made this afternoon and then all that is left to do is to get myself glam'd up and enjoy the evening :)

New Designers

I was told last week that I have been selected to exhibit at New Designers this year.  I had been waiting for this opportunity since my first year of Uni as was always hoping that I would be lucky enough to get to go so I am really excited and cannot wait to get there :) 

Surface Pattern Design is stand T57 and we will be showing in Part 1 which runs from 29th June - 2nd July.  All students will have work displayed as well as portfolios to hand to show anyone who is interested in seeing what we can all do

Degree Show

Thats it...my degree has now finished.  Three years of cutting, printing, sketching, developing and creating all comes down to this....the final degree show.

The show opens on Friday evening at 6pm and will run until Saturday 18th June. The invitation is open to everyone so whether you are interested in coming and having a look at the new talent of 2011 or just fancy trip out please come and see us all.
